Oh the drama of a four-year-old girl. My daughter loves animals, specifically our two cats, Simba and Orion. She loves them so much that at least hourly, she showers them with affection. This typically involves tackling picking them up, squeezing hugging them, mauling smooching them and any other way she can find at that moment to show her affection. Now, as you can imagine, the kitties are not real fond of this. Orion, the young one, tolerates it. Simba, the old guy, does not. She has been told I can’t tell you how many times, not to bug Simba. But, alas, she does know better than mama and chooses not to listen. Today, she was bugging loving on Simba and he returned the favor in the form of a nip to her nose. She does have a visible scratch, but you would have thought he bit her nose clean off! She ran to the bathroom screaming and sobbing and when I asked what was the matter, she yells, “I don’t want to talk about it” and shuts the door. (Aaah, the realization that mom does at times know what she is talking about. ) So she finally fesses up and we clean up the scratch and she promptly goes to her room, turns on a movie, climbs into bed with a cold compress pressed to her nose, lays back, puts up her feet and says, “I need to rest.” Sigh.
